Can Reiki Reduce Anxiety?
Reiki healing has so many amazing benefits including increased energy, clarity and focus, happiness and joy. But the number one thing my clients always say after a session, is they feel a total sense of peace and calmness-it’s like all their troubles left them while on the table!
Reiki energy healing is an amazing tool to add to your anxiety-fighting tool kit!
Many of the clients I see, suffer with severe anxiety. In fact, it's probably one of the top reasons clients come to me.
Many people with anxiety deal with excessive and unrealistic worry about everyday issues, including their family, health or financial situation.
This persistant worry is difficult to control. In many cases, people with this condition feel a sense of impending doom even when there is no reason to believe that something bad will happen.
For most, the disorder appears gradually over time. It is more common in women than in men and tends to peak after childhood.
While many people are able to manage their symptoms and lead a relatively normal life, severe anxiety can sometimes make it difficult to carry out everyday responsibilities or function in social situations.
Some of the symptoms of anxiety may include:
• Trouble sleeping
• Tense muscles
• Irritability
• Tiredness
• Feeling restless or on edge
• Trouble concentrating
Studies have shown that Reiki offers several benefits for people with anxiety. Some of these benefits include:
1. Lower stress levels
People with anxiety have higher stress levels than the normal population. Research studies indicate that Reiki may assist to alleviate some of this stress.
2. Relaxation
Having anxiety makes it difficult to relax even when no significant stressor is present. Many people who participate in Reiki sessions report feeling relaxed both during the session and after it is complete, which may be beneficial to someone who struggles with anxiety.
3. Improved mood
Not every person who has been diagnosed with anxiety will experience depression. However, for many people, these two issues go hand-in-hand. Research indicates that people who participate in Reiki sessions on a regular basis feel less depressed than they did prior to therapy.
4. Better sleep
People with anxiety may find that they have trouble falling asleep, are unable to stay asleep or don’t feel rested even after sleeping all night. Reiki sessions may alleviate some of these issues and improve the quality of sleep.
Reiki is a safe and non invasive holistic treatment, that does no harm or pose any risk to a client. It also causes no side effects. It can even be used in conjunction with virtually any other treatment prescribed by a physician, including medication and other types of therapy.
Reiki is becoming popular for dealing with all kinds of health issues, but it's especially gaining traction in the mental health field.
Reiki is intended to allow total relaxation a little like yoga or acupuncture. It reduces the stress response-or the release of cortisol from the adrenal glands and activation of the sympathetic nervous system-going from the fight or flight response to rest and digest response.
