Healing in the Real World: A Beginner’s Guide to Getting Into Your Body

...and why embodiment is the missing key on your healing journey

Have you ever felt like you’ve done all the mindset work—journaled endlessly, read the books, followed the coaches, pulled the cards, meditated—and yet something still feels… off?

You’re not broken. You haven’t done anything wrong. And you definitely haven’t failed at healing.

You’ve just been trying to heal from the neck up. And what your soul is craving now… is embodiment.

In a world that glorifies being busy, living in the mind, and pushing through, we’ve been taught to disconnect from our bodies as a survival strategy. But the truth is: your body isn’t the enemy. It’s the portal. The sacred vessel holding every emotion, every trauma, every intuitive whisper you’ve been waiting to hear.

💫 What is Embodiment, really?

Embodiment is the practice of becoming present in your body. It’s not about looking a certain way, being ultra spiritual, or doing everything "right." It’s about being with what’s real.

It's:

  • Feeling your feelings without numbing or running

  • Letting your body lead before your mind tries to figure it out

  • Learning how to feel safe inside your own nervous system

  • Building trust in yourself through presence, not perfection

🌀 Why many women are disconnected from their bodies:

Many of us learned early on to suppress, perform, and people-please. We were told to be nice, polite, small, quiet. We were taught to override our inner knowing in exchange for approval.

Add in trauma, unprocessed grief, the weight of generational patterns, and a society that celebrates dissociation as productivity—and no wonder we feel numb, anxious, or stuck.

But there’s another way. And it starts by coming back into your body, gently and with compassion.

Why is it so hard to be in the body?

One of the most common things I see (and have experienced myself) is how hard it can be to actually stay in the body—especially when life gets overwhelming. Maybe you've tried to sit still in meditation or slow down long enough to feel... and found your mind racing, your body tense, or even felt nothing at all.

This isn’t a flaw in you. It’s a protective pattern—and it often comes back to nervous system dysregulation.

When we've experienced chronic stress, trauma (big or small), or grown up in environments where we had to be on alert, our nervous system learns that being in the body isn’t safe. So we develop coping mechanisms: we live in our minds, dissociate, numb, distract, or stay in constant motion.

The mind becomes a safer place than the body.

But healing doesn’t happen from the mind alone—it happens when we begin to gently reconnect with our body, our breath, our senses. When we can start to feel safe in our body again, we begin to unwind the patterns that have kept us stuck in survival mode.

This is where embodiment comes in.

🍉 7 Gentle Practices to Begin Coming Home to Your Body:

  1. Conscious Breathing
Just 3 slow, intentional breaths can shift your entire nervous system. Breathe in through your nose, exhale out the mouth with a sigh.

  2. Somatic Shaking
Stand up and shake out your arms, legs, hips, and spine for a minute or two. Let your body release stress it’s been holding onto.

  3. Tune into Sensation
Ask yourself, “What do I feel right now in my body?” Try to name textures, temperatures, or movement.

  4. Intuitive Movement
Put on music and let your body move without choreography. Let your hips sway, your shoulders drop, your feet lead.

  5. Heart Hold
Place one hand on your heart and one on your womb. Breathe deeply and whisper, “I’m safe to be here. I choose to come home.”

  6. Journaling Through the Body
Instead of asking “What am I thinking?” try “What does my body want me to know today?”

  7. Rest
Lay down. Let yourself be still. Your body doesn’t need to earn your love through productivity. She’s worthy now.

🌟 Soulful intuitive dance to awaken joy and flow
🌟 Journal prompts to uncover deeper truths
🌟 A heart-opening sound healing to integrate and soothe

You don’t need to have experience. You don’t need to know the “right” way. You just need to show up—and I’ll guide you from there.

This isn’t about fixing you. This is about remembering you.
