Ego vs Higher Self: How to Recognie the Voice of Your Soul

 
 

One of the biggest struggles I hear from clients and Soul Temple members is: “I don’t know if it’s my ego talking or my Higher Self.”
It’s an important question-because the more you learn to tune into your Higher Self, the more peace, clarity, and direction you’ll feel in life.

But here’s the truth most people miss:
Your ego and your Higher Self sound very different -once you know how to listen.

What Is the Ego Voice?

The ego is the part of you shaped by fear, conditioning, and survival. It’s not “bad”-it’s simply wired to keep you safe.
The ego voice usually:

  • Speaks loudly and urgently (“Do it now or else...”)

  • Feels fear-based or judgmental

  • Loops in what-ifs, doubts, or overthinking

  • Seeks validation from others

  • Often feels like pressure, tension, or anxiety in the body

The ego is like a protective guard — but one who’s constantly suspicious and worried.

What Is the Higher Self Voice?

Your Higher Self is the eternal, divine part of you connected directly to God and your oversoul. It holds the wisdom, peace, and clarity of your true essence.
The Higher Self voice usually:

  • Speaks softly, calmly, and with love

  • Brings a sense of expansion and peace

  • Is clear but not forceful

  • Aligns with your values and feels truthful in your body

  • Doesn’t argue, convince, or push-it simply is

The Higher Self is like a quiet compass-always steady, always pointing you home.

How to Tell the Difference

Here are a few simple tools to help you discern between ego and Higher Self guidance:

  1. Check the tone.
    If it’s loud, pushy, or fear-driven → ego.
    If it’s calm, steady, and loving → Higher Self.

  2. Notice the body response.
    Ego feels like tightening, tension, or dread.
    Higher Self feels like expansion, openness, or relief.

  3. Give it space.
    Ego gets louder the more you pause.
    Higher Self becomes clearer the more you breathe, pray, or drop inward.

Practices to Strengthen Your Higher Self Connection

  • Daily Stillness: Even 5 minutes of silence builds the muscle of listening inward.

  • Somatic Scans: Place your hand on your heart and ask, “Does this feel like truth?” Pay attention to body sensations.

  • Journaling with Intention: Write a question at the top of the page, then let your Higher Self answer without editing.

  • Quantum EFT: Use tapping to quiet the ego and re-attune your nervous system to Higher Self guidance (we’ll do this together in the masterclass).

  • Boundaries with Noise: Limit scrolling and consuming outside voices. Your Higher Self can’t be heard if you’re filled with everyone else’s opinions.
